Yesterday we loaded up and traveled down to Papago Park and strolled into the Botanical Gardens and walked around for almost 4 hours. The temperature was 75 and the sky was very clear. Although it is not really spring yet, there were some early blooming cacti that were well worth seeing and photographing.

There was a glass blowing demonstration as well as guided tours and many spots along the way to sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. Much of the area was dedicated to plants of the Sonoran Desert but there was an area that had many different cacti and other succulents from around the world.

I had hoped to see some wildlife and did see some rabbits, Gambel Quail, doves, ground squirrels, and one painted turtle near the water in the "wet" area. No rattlesnakes and none have been seen in the park since the 1940's. What a bummer!

We were able to sit and eat a sandwich at an outdoor cafe and watch the birds eat and the ground squirrels chase them if they got a large item. We left the park around 2:30 and drove up Scottsdale Blvd to the Kierland Mall and stopped for ice cream before heading back to the ranch. Just another day in paradise!!
